Containing eight packets of seeds, from the delightful mix of colours and textures of 'Marvel of Four Seasons', to the velvety smoothness of 'All Year Round' and the cool crispness of 'Parris Island'. They are ideal for grow bags as well as the veg garden. From successive sowings they will produce a harvest of tasty lettuces all year round. They can be harvested for baby leaf or grown to maturity.
Each of the varieties are supplied with an A5 information sheet containing colour pictures, information about the plant, sowing guidelines and cultivation advice.
Lettuce 'All Year Round'
As its name suggests, this butterhead lettuce can be the basis of fresh daily salads throughout the year. This is no 'supermarket' variety, but rather a proper lettuce with an exquisite flavour unavailable from anywhere but from your own vegetable patch.
Lettuce 'Catalogna Cerbiatta'
A highly ornamental oakleaf lettuce which produces masses of deeply lobed leaves. With good flavour and texture, the compact plants will grow easily in a pot or in the garden. This variety tolerates heat very well, but also excels in cooler climates.
Lettuce 'Green Salad Bowl'
Salad Bowl lettuce are amply named, one plant fills a salad bowl with no need to add other lettuces. “Green Salad Bowl” is an award winning variety that produces large, slow bolting, non-heading plants with sweet, succulent green leaves. N.I.A.B and RHS AGM.
Icebergs are one of the most popular lettuces in the world. There is little comparison however, between a shop bought Iceberg, and a home grown one. Both retain that beautiful thick crispness of leaf, but it is the flavour of the home grown makes it exceptional. Fresh, crisp and ever so slightly sweet.
Lettuce 'Lollo Rossa'
Lollo Rosso is a classic Italian lettuce, with dark copper red to bright green, finely crinkled frilly leaves which are crisp, almost brittle when snapped. It is appreciated for its unique shape and refreshing taste and holds well in summer heat and in the cold.
Lettuce 'Marvel of Four Seasons'
This French butter-head lettuce is famous for its signature butter-head shape boasting the appearance of a bibb-type rosette with an array of beautiful colours ranging in bronze, gold, red and green. The “Four Seasons” will thrive in a range of climates and its texture always remains crisp and its taste unforgettable. .
Lettuce 'Meraviglia d'Inverno'
Lettuce Meraviglia d'Inverno is truly a ‘Marvel of Winter’, it is from one of the coldest regions of Italy and is hardy to around minus 10°C (14°F). Compact and tender, it will stand in perfect condition right through winter and can be harvested from September right through to March.
Lettuce 'Parris Island'
Parris Island is a Romaine type lettuce that produces an upright head of strong leaves, with a distinctive crisp white midrib. Heat tolerant with fair bolt resistance. In most areas, you can grow successive crops in spring and autumn and in mild coastal areas, it can be grown year-round.
